From the rocky shores of Brighton to the sunny coast of California, Barny Cooke, the artist known as Frisco, creates landscapes of inspirational places that he feels an inner connection to. When Frisco is struck by the beauty of a location – not just the visual appearance but its history, culture, music, and vibe – he feels inspired to re-create the scene.
Frisco works digitally to create his artworks and prints onto paper or transfers to canvas using acrylic paint. The artist says, 'I like to use a combination of earthy, pastel and bright palettes and my finished pieces all possess warm undertones reminiscent of golden sunrises and fiery sunsets.'
Drawing on real-life experience, photography, books, film, and music Frisco uses simple and free-flowing colourful forms, lines, and shapes resulting in abstract, organic, bright, and dream-like vistas that conjure a sense of wonderment and freedom.
Following training in Graphic Design and working in a successful London-based design studio creating cutting-edge works for music industry clients, Frisco launched his own skateboard and clothing lines and has now realised his dream of producing art by launching this new body of work in his ‘Frisco Landscapes’ series.
