Inspired by Hitchcock’s 1959 classic, North by Northwest, ‘Rushmore’ weaves together an impossible landscape of dizzying proportions. Above ground, sites of Modernist and Metropolitan architecture are clustered together, giving way to jungle vistas while, below, historic roots have taken hold, creating a stable foundation for this futuristic dreamscape. Mount Rushmore itself is never shown, and moments from the film are quietly scattered here and there, to create new stories from the old, and a landscape of endless possibility.
