This limited edition hand-finished print portrays the feminist icon RBG - Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who was an American lawyer and jurist who served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1993 until her death in September 2020 and spent much of her legal career as an advocate for gender equality and women's rights, winning many arguments before the Supreme Court.
The focal point of the painting is Ginsburg's symbolic collar and a white thread coming from it and forming one of my favourite Ginsburg quotes “Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.” Over time, Ginsburg’s collars came to symbolize more than just long-overdue feminine energy on the Supreme Court. To her, each one developed a special significance. The style of the collar sometimes reflected the substance of her work. White thread for me symbolises the continuous cycle of powerful Women of the past and present weaving the net for a better future.
