"BB" is a tribute to Brigitte Bardot—her legacy as a symbol of the sexual revolution, a pop culture icon, and a dedicated animal rights activist. This collage reimagines Rivans’ first full-length Pin-up, where BB’s form is adorned with an intricate tapestry of flowers, plants, and birds. These natural elements symbolize the beauty of the Earth and the importance of keeping nature close to our human spirit.
Butterflies, owls, swans, and a Charles Spaniel surround her, embodying grace, loyalty, and transformation. A puffin perches nearby, while an Airstream and a pink mineral reflect a life of movement, curiosity, and raw beauty. A bee—also referencing “Beebe,” an old English name for the honey bee or a settlement—buzzes as a reminder of nature’s delicate balance. A Pterodactyl looms in the composition, speaking to the vast history of our planet and the inevitability of evolution.
At the bottom, a workman sits on a giant chain and hook, a nod to the forces that shape our world—both natural and industrial. His presence questions our relationship with progress and the environment, asking what we hold onto and what we must release.
"BB" is a meditation on change, nature, and the interconnectedness of all things. Through collage, the piece celebrates the wild beauty of the past while urging us to care for the fragile world we inhabit today.
